Programme outline

Hydrology is a two-year Master's programme in English and consists of courses and research, totalling 120 points in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Students are able to specialise in almost any aspect of the discipline.

The programme comprises:

Courses (45-60 ECTS)
Msc research project (30-60 ECTS)
Optional: internship (15-30 ECTS)

* Not mandatory but is valid for the '5-out-of-8' requirements for Hydrology, track environmental hydrogeology.

Depending on your interest and ambition, you may select courses/seminars from the total offer.

Students determine the subject of their MSc research together with their supervisor. The project can involve fieldwork and/or laboratory work.

Many students choose to carry out all or part of their master's research in the framework of a traineeship at a company or a research organisation such as TNO, RIVM or a foreign university. Such traineeships generally involve modest remuneration, which can be helpful in covering study costs. Doing a traineeship gives students the opportunity to experience working at a company or university in the Netherlands or abroad.
